Super Soldier Deputy PM that Everyone Hates
Appearance: 53-year-old woman. Looks like her personality. Everything she wears ends up looks like a pant suit.
Personality: All moxie, all the time. Tenacious. Smart. Determined. Nobody’s fool. Nobody’s baby. Exudes no-nonsense, get-the-job-done toughness and sensibility. Preternaturally unflappable. Of course everyone hates her.
Background: Dominion’s grandfather was Canada’s First Superhero. Known as the Canadian Shield, he had received an experimental super soldier serum and fought Nazis alongside the Red Ensign and Johnny Canuck in Europe before taking on missions against the Soviets during the Cold War along side Aussie-Mandias, Sable Chief and Merlin the Magician. The epigenetics skipped a generation, and the changes the serum wrought on the grandfather—enhanced strength, agility, speed, and endurance—were all passed along to his grand-daughter, who has also shown signs of invulnerability:

Chrystelle was born in Peace River, Alberta, in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. Her father was a farmer and lawyer, her mother, was also a lawyer and a former cop, and both were active in provincial politics. From them, young Chrystelle learned the value of liberty, hard work, standing up for what’s right, and the ability to sever all emotional attachments.
Having grown up on gran-dad’s stories, she started moonlighting as a masked vigilante in High School, as her legacy powers emerged in adolescence. She started by keeping an eye on school dances, volunteering in nursing homes, and finding lost livestock. Then she went to Harvard, and raised the stakes in the US, where she saw some real action in some of Boston’s toughest neighbourhoods – East Boston, Southie, Dorchester. Lynn.
Later, as a Rhodes Scholar and during her postgraduate work at Oxford, her superhero activities attracted more attention and she began to realize that image and publicity were everything in the superhero gig. By the time she started her journalism career, she had launched a meticulously crafted super-persona that could credibly appear on either side of the pond and support the work she was doing without raising too many questions: Dominion!
For twenty years, as a journalist she revealed corporate and political malfeasance by day and as a superhero, beat up the corrupt and criminal at night. From London to Moscow, Washington and back to Toronto.
She finally revealed her identity when she ran for a seat in Parliament in 2013. And now, besides being the second in command of Canada’s national superhero team, the True North Force, she is also the Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Canada.
Chrystelle Freeland is one of the most competent and credible Canadian leaders in a generation. Being a woman as such, she is despised beyond all reason. But she doesn't let it get to her. She's been expelled form Russia for life, stared down the fulminations of the Trump administration, and spent nearly a decade in politics playing second fiddle to a handsy trust fund man-child of middling political talent, limited attention, and less vision. She is Dominion. And she is nearly invulnerable.
For Queen. For Country. For Freedom. Biding her time and saving Canada in the process. Just like Grand-dad.
