Odlidar was a chief researcher for the Azlanti empire's temple of Amanzen. Her expertise with magical theory and brilliant intellect propelled her to the this position. Her collaboration with her twin sister Azariel who is also an expert in magical theory helped them develop many amazing arcane inventions. Unbeknownst to Odlidar, Azariel was a mole for the forbidden cult of Scal, the God of Destruction. Odlidar doesn't remember what happened but she knows there was a betrayal by her twin sister.
It is apparent that somehow during the chaos of the cataclysm that the two sisters came to an arrangement and pulled off an arcane miracle and put themselves into a preservation capsule only designed for one. This had the effect that they are now sharing a body. Also many of their memories are lost whether due to time or the jamming the two of them in together.
Since being awakened by the party Azariel slowly came to trust the other members, well at least as far as any deep cover mole can trust anyone (ie not that far). With Odlidar's reawakening Azariel has started to question her faith although Oorka has provided some reassurance. Azariel is now starting to think that destruction needs to be carefully targeted to improve the world.
Azariel Alone
With Odlidar's fading and rescue, Azariel is alone with no one from her time alive. Odlidar's last message is a great comfort to her and she has had her desire to use destruction to promote growth reinforced. She is very grateful to Stormfizzle and Cole for their work to preserve Odlidar and given Stormfizzle's fascination with Azlanti arcanotech she has started occasionally helping the gnome with his research at least to talking with him about it in relaxed moments.
With Cole being inserted into a clockwork she has given some thought to perhaps housing Odlidar into one if the fading can be cured. However her main initial thought is to see if Odldar's fading can be cured by housing her in an embryo and letting her grow up and recover that way. Much research needs to be done. She consults frequently with Oorka as the prophet has many keen insights into such phenomena.
The Resurrection of Orag
Despite being Orag dead and with no Diamond sufficient to power the resurrection ritual, nevertheless Azariel said "grab Orag we will figure it out after we escape from this place". As the party was leaving the volcano a memory surfaced ... but not one of her memories. Odlidar somehow gave her the knowledge of her last ditch cache.
Azariel quickly explains that she knows where Odlidar's emergency cache is. It's underwater and not that far away only two or three leagues in an Azlanti vault that will almost certainly be still intact. Taking the submarine to the vicinity is easy, finding the vault not that simple as things have changed over the millennia. After an hour of searching the party realizes that the only place it can be is inside a small cave as there is evidence of an underwater landslide in what should be close to the right spot.
The cave is small but with the corset of Visnkanya Azariel is able to squeeze inside only to swim out much faster trailing blood as a Giant Moray Eel has taken a bite out of her. The Eel is relatively quickly dispatched by a Lightning Bolt from Stormfizzle and only getting inside the vault remains. The only other party member who can fit in the cave is Stormfizzle so they proceed and after Azariel summons a Water Elemental to clear the way the vault is revealed.
It being Odlidar's vault Azariel quickly solves the simple Azlanti riddle to open the vault (something about different sized discs and three pillars. Inside is the cache Odlidar put together when she realized that everything was going to end in a cataclysm. There are several blank Ioun stones a large diamond Odlidar's journal, preserved (in a time stopped container) food, and ... an Azlanti cookbook? Sister was odd sometimes.
Since they had surveyed the area to find the vault Azariel had noticed a lovely grotto with a large amount of coral and an open area for the ritual ... perfect. Gathering the party around Azariel says "this is the Azlanti resurrection ritual, I would like you all to say a few words and it will help". Azariel lays out the corpse and put his weapons in what remains in his hands and puts the diamond on his forehead. After everyone has said their piece Azariel bids them touch the corpse and begins her chant, the chanting starts softly and mounts for 30 minutes until there is a brilliant flash from the diamond as it shrinks and embeds itself in Orag's forehead, glowing softly. Orag sits up ...
